The corner of the building at golden hour, the South Shore sign on the brick

Cudahy, Wisconsin · In the 1911 building Cudahy knew as Sheridan’s

Come for a cocktail. Stay the night.

A bar and bed on Milwaukee’s South Shore — a craft cocktail lounge, a boutique hotel, and a landscaped courtyard, all under one roof in Cudahy.

The Concept

A bar and bed.

A boutique hotel sits above a neighborhood cocktail bar in a 1911 building on Lake Drive — a bar and bed built around good drinks, a proper night’s sleep, and a courtyard in between. Come for a cocktail, stay for the night, or both.

The BarGround floor

Not a hotel bar. A neighborhood bar.

Come as a guest staying the night (or two) or come as a Milwaukee neighbor — either way, you’re pulling up the same stool. It’s not really a hotel bar, it’s a neighborhood bar that happens to have hotel rooms above it.

The backbar: lit shelves of bottles against deep green walls

AboutSince 1911

The corner of the building at golden hour, the South Shore sign on the brick

Same building, new life.

The bones were already right: two buildings around a courtyard, a kitchen, a bar, and rooms upstairs. Now it’s The South Shore — honoring every iteration that has come before.

  1. 1911The Lakeview Inn, built by Frank Sztukowski.
  2. 1920Rebuilt as the Sheridan Hotel, with the Palm Gardens tavern on the ground floor.
  3. 1968Remodeled and renamed the Fountain Blue.
  4. 2007Reborn as Sheridan’s: boutique hotel and American bistro for the better part of two decades.
  5. 2026The South Shore Cocktail Club.

Brendan Cleary

Brendan spent eleven years as bar manager at Great Lakes Distillery before taking this on — he’s building the cocktail program.

Caitlin Kohlbeck

Caitlin worked for the Wisconsin DNR, ran her own Airbnb in Brewers Hill, and spent time occasionally bartending — she runs the hotel side.

Host an event

Make it your night.

Birthdays, rehearsal dinners, work things that shouldn’t feel like work things — the bar and courtyard flex for groups, with hotel rooms on-site for anyone who wants to stay over.
